Local Holloway Info
Holloway belongs to the London Borough of Islington. It goes with the postal code of N7 and is situated in the inner-city part. The district is a multicultural place, populated densely with people of different ethnicity, concentrated in the centre of Holloway, more precisely in the Nag’s Head area.
Some argue that the name of the area comes from Hollow, or Hollow way. Water erosion or the passage of animals, are believed to have caused a dip in the road, which gave the area’s name. Others think it has something to do with the pilgrimage route to Walsingham, which included this very same road. Either way, no documentary evidence is found to support these theories.
Nowadays, the district is a popular residential area, shopping and business centre, even a little overcrowded. A lot of improvements are made here today, so it really keeps on positively developing. A lot of improvement projects for the Nag’s Head area are marked off by Islington London Borough Council.
One of the local places of interest is Saints Joseph and PadarnChurch. It is situated near Holloway Roadand Seven Sisters Road in a residential street. The church is built in Gothic revival style in 1876. It was later purchased by the St Pius X and was no longer the centre for London’s small Welsh-speaking Anglican community.
