Located 4 miles north-west of London’s central area, Hampstead NW3 forms part of the Borough of Camden. The neighbourhood is an opulent one, among the most expensive spots for property investments. Hampstead Heath is a magnificent park, spreading on 320 hectares. Managed by the City of London Corporation, the Heath is designated as a Site of Metropolitan Importance for Nature Conservation. During the early 18th century Hampstead was a popular spa resort but gradually its fashion fame declined. Once the North London Railway was opened, regeneration accelerated its pace. A number of other cultural landmarks make the area even more desirable tourist destination: Keats House, the Freud Museum and Fenton House.
Hampstead has a reputation of attracting poets, writers, composers, intellectuals, artists and architects and boasts a long list of prominent residents: John McCormack, Ozzy Osbourne, Sting, Ridley Scott, Elizabeth Taylor, Sigmund Freud, Lord Byron, Agatha Christie, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Charles Dickens, T.S. Eliot, Percy Bysshe Shelly, and many others.
