Local Southgate Info
The area of Southgate is situated 8 miles north of the City of London. It belongs to the two boroughs of Enfield and Barnet. Its precise location is 8 miles north of the City centre.
Once, the King’s hunting grounds used to be situated on the territory of Enfield Chase, and that’s where the name of the area originates from.
Southgate, however, is today a popular residential district, preferred by many as a place of living. It is modern and fashionable and does not lack places of entertainment, as the lovely restaurants and great pubs here. The New Crown, Ye Olde Cherry Tree, The Woodman and The Wetherspoons are among the most popular pubs here.
There are, of course, nice open green spaces here, which offer peace and harmony away from the busy city life. Grovelands Park is the largest one, where one can enjoy themselves by the boating lake in the park. The 800-years old oak tree in the area is one of the most popular local attractions of Southgate. The circular form of the Southgate tube station is very interesting and is listed Grade II building. It perfectly serves the area’s transport needs.
